21 Benefits Of Daily Bible Reading

21 Exceptional Benefits Of Daily Bible Reading will help you come to the realization that the Bible is not an ordinary book, but everything about it is exceptional.

I once heard a preacher say in a sermon the biggest dust storm will hit the world when all the Christians take their Bibles off the shelves at the same time and open it.

The dust is collected from standing on the shelve for a long time without being touched.

The sad truth is however that very few of God’s children set time aside to spend time in His Word.

Think of the Bible as your life manual. We learn the background and history from the lives of the faith heroes in the Bible.  Their mistakes, and how to improve in our own lives.  Through the pages of the Bible, implementing the truths into our own lives, and imitating Christ, it’s no longer another book but become our life story.

Before moving on to the Benefits Of Daily Bible Reading, I want to share Scriptures with you about God’s fingerprint and His identity in His Word. If you want to skip this and read the Benefits you can press here.

May you clearly hear the voice of the Holy Spirit ministering to you while reading through these beautiful Scriptures.

God Behind His Word

God Is His Word

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John 1:1

Given By God

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16

Settled In Heaven

“Forever, O Lord,
Your word is settled in heaven.”

Psalm 119:80

It’s True And Endures Forever

“The entirety of Your word is truth,
And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.”

Psalm 119:160

It Will Never Lose Its Power And Stands Forever

“The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.”

Isaiah 40:8

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

Matthew 24:35

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

Matthew 24:35

God created heaven and earth by simply speaking them into existence (Genesis 1).

“Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.”

Proverbs 30:5

21 Exceptional Benefits Of Daily Bible Reading

1. Bible Reading Assists Us To Become Spiritually Mature

“For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

Hebrews 5:13-14

“For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

Hebrews 5:13-14

An infant is slowly introduced to solid food, the first few months a baby can only digest milk, then he can only eat pureed food and then small pieces of food.

Daily Bible reading teaches the Christian foundations to new believers, but if they don’t persevere and neglect spending time in God’s Word, they are not moving forward in becoming spiritually mature.

2. Bible Reading Improves Chances For Our Prayers To Be Answered

“Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

Psalm 37:4

“As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.”

Psalm 42:1

Bible Reading draws us closer to God and gives us the desire to spend more time with Him.

Our souls start to long for more time with Him, we hunger and thirst for Him.

We are promised when we delight ourselves in God, He will give us the desires of our hearts.

3. Bible Reading Offer Us Blessings

“But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” “

Luke 11:28

When we spend time reading the Bible, we will learn in general how to be imitators of Christ, and how to behave ourselves in our family, daily, and business affairs.

The Holy Spirit will show us where to apply these truths in our affairs and life, and we will be blessed in our ways.

4. Bible Reading Offers Us Direction

“Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.”

Psalm 119:105

Without God’s Word and the direction, it gives to us, our lives and circumstances are a dark, unlit path.

God’s Word lights our paths, showing us what direction to take.

5. Bible Reading Offers Us Discernment Between Wrong And Right

“Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.”

Psalm 119:11

Our hearts are the essential midpoints of our personalities.

We are warned in Proverbs to guard our hearts for out of it comes the issues of life.

Even when you feel you don’t remember what you read in the Bible, the Words of life are stored in our hearts and the Holy Spirit will pull it out for us to remember at the correct time, to help us not to sin and to guide us.

6. Bible Reading Offers Us Freedom

“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.  And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” “

John 8:31-32

The Word of God is alive and active, and by daily Bible reading, the burdens and chains can be broken in our lives.

We receive new hope and encouragement when we read the life stories of other faith heroes, knowing the same God who performed those miracles for them, is working in our lives.

7. Bible Reading Offers Us Hope

“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”

Romans 15:4

To be filled with hope is one of the unavoidable benefits of Bible Reading.

Through the pages, chapters, and history we learn about our Almighty God for whom nothing is impossible, His love for His children, and how He fights battles and intervenes on our behalf.

It’s the most intriguing true-life story filled with hope we can ever read and apply to our own lives of the Almighty God who shows Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are undivided on Him.

8. Bible Reading Offers Us Instruction

“He who heeds the word wisely will find good,
And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.”

Proverbs 16:20

When we saturate ourselves with God’s Word we gather God’s wisdom to help us handle all the obstacles that cross our paths.

For almost anything, we can find answers in the Bible and it will help us to trust more in God and help us to see how little we are in comparison to God and His wisdom for our lives.

It is plain stupid to try setting the settings for stitches on a Bernina sewing machine, by using an Elna manual, it will prove to be an epic failure.

God is our creator, our natural instinct should be to follow the life manual He wrote for us.

9. Bible Reading Offers Us Joy

“The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes”

Psalm 19:8

“Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever,
For they are the rejoicing of my heart.”

Psalm 119:111

The Words of God will lighten us from the inside out, radiating God from our hearts and eyes.

His light expels all darkness and will give us lasting joy as only God can bestow on us.

10. Bible Reading Offers Us Knowing God Intimately

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.”

Psalm 91:14

Bible Reading helps us to get to know God on a much deeper, intimate level.

We discover precious truths about His Names, character, and attributes that’s been unknown to us.

When the Holy Spirit reveals things about the Trinity to us, we will remember them better.

We grow closer to God when we spend more time with Him, as in any relationship.

11. Bible Reading Offers Us Knowledge About Spiritual Warfare

“Blessed be the Lord my Rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers for battle—”

Psalm 144:1

When we read the Bible the Holy Spirit shows us how to fight the darkness in the spiritual realm.

He will reveal Scriptures to us that we can apply to our own lives and circumstances to defeat the devil.

The Holy Spirit will personally train you for this spiritual war and battle.

12. Bible Reading Offers Us Knowledge To Obey God

“Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes,
And I shall keep it to the end.

Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,
For I delight in it.”

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”

John 6:63

Our bodies, without our spirits, are dead.

When we die our spirits leave our bodies and our bodies are then corpses.

In the Scriptures Jesus explains that it is His Spirit that gives life, the Words He speaks to us are spirit and life.

When we read our Bibles His Spirit-filled Words give us life from the inside out.

No other book can make you feel so alive as when you are reading your Bible.

14. Bible Reading Offers Us Peace

“Great peace have those who love Your law (Word),
And nothing causes them to stumble.”

Psalm 119:165

Daily Bible reading gives us peace that surpasses all understanding and can only come from God.

We experience an inner peace where nothing can disturb us.

We find an everlasting peace in Christ that nothing else can offer or diminish.

15. Bible Reading Offers Us Prosperity And Success

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

Joshua 1:8

When we read our Bibles, we read the Words with our eyes, understand them with our minds, and store them in our hearts.

This helps us to think often of what we have read and to apply it to our lives.

It is a promise of success and prosperity when we are faithful to God’s instructions.

16. Bible Reading Offers Us Salvation

“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

James 1:21

“How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.”

Psalm 119:9

When we regularly read our Bibles, the implanted Word will guide us to trust God and lay aside sin and wickedness.

The Holy Spirit minister to us through God’s Word and helps us to make a conscious decision to remove sin from us.

17. Bible Reading Offers Us Sanctification

“You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.”

John 15:3

“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”

John 17:17

God’s Word cleanses us through the Words spoken by Jesus to us, whose cleansing effects are evident in our minds and hearts from the guilt and the weight of sin on us.

God’s Word is alive, active, and through the working of the Holy Spirit decontaminates our souls

18. Bible Reading Offers Us Stronger Faith

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Romans 10:17

Even while still reading, you will listen to the Words of God with your spiritual ears, and your faith will increase.

You will experience boldness and substance to persevere in the most difficult circumstances.

19. Bible Reading Offers Us Recollection Of God’s Promises

“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

2 Corinthians 1:20

The Bible is like a treasure chest with precious gems waiting to be discovered by us.

God’s Word is overflowing with promises for His children, once we hear God’s voice speaking to us through His Word and we remember His promises toward us we receive the Rhema Word, where it becomes our own.

20. Bible Reading Offers Us Wisdom

“The entrance of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple.”

“And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes”
