31 Scriptures From Proverbs On The Tongue is a compilation of Scriptures from Proverbs I believe every believer must read, write down and learn.
We must know that we will have to give account for every idle word we ever spoke.
“Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Matthew 12:34-37
Therefore it is important to know what the Word of God says about the words we speak.
In my own life, I’ve been both on the giving and receiving end of the effects of careless words spoken and experienced firsthand their devastating effects.
Not only do I regret my contribution for the pain I caused others, but wish I started learning how to tame my tongue earlier in my life.
To tame the tongue as well as other aspects of sanctification is a daily learning process with the assistance of the Holy Spirit and will continue to the day we meet our Lord and Savior.
31 Scriptures From Proverbs On The Tongue is Part 1 of a two-part series on the tongue.
As you read through these Scriptures may you be encouraged and inspired to start praying and practicing and applying self-control to put a guard before your lips, either for yourselves or those you are interceding for.
