31 Scriptures To Pray Against Addiction is a compilation of Scriptures I prayed while my daughter was caught up in heroin addiction.
The image shows a mousetrap with something in it, once the mouse is caught it leads to death. The same principle applies to addiction, if not set free by Christ, it will lead to death.
Except for drug, alcohol, and nicotine addiction, people can be addicted to a lot of other things like pharmaceutical drugs, gambling, gaming, pornography, shopping, texting, social media, food, and many other things.
In my opinion as prayer warriors, we must ask God to show us what specific areas He wants us to pray for that person.
Three important things to pray for people caught up in addiction:
- That God will draw them close to Him and that they will be saved.
- That Jesus will make them free because then they will be free indeed (John 8:36).
- For them to admit they have a problem and really have the desire to be helped. (No one can be helped if they don’t want to be helped.)
If you are a close friend or relative of the person you are praying for then I will advise you to ask others to pray for you as well.
Whatever your situation might be, whether you pray for yourself or someone else, I pray that the Lord will meet you at your point of need.
May You clearly hear the voice of the Holy Spirit ministering to You while reading through these beautiful Scriptures.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope for you is steadfast because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-7

25. Slaves Of Righteousness
“And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
