8 Scriptures To Combat Fear & Anxiety

8 Scriptures To Combat Fear & Anxiety is to equip you with Scripture to take up your sword of the spirit and overcome fear and anxiety.

We cannot overcome fear by ourselves, or on our own without God.

With God’s help, we can overcome anything including fear by praying and speaking the Living Word of God over our own lives and the lives of those we are interceding for.

I pray the Holy Spirit will speak to you through these Scriptures and inspire you to pray and speak the Word of God.

8 Scriptures To Combat Fear & Anxiety

1. Do Not Fear

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6

Numerous times in Scripture the Lord tells us not to be afraid.

When I started with in-depth Bible Study the Holy Spirit naturally equipped me with determination and confidence.

A scared child will find comfort when he knows his mom or dad is beside him holding his hand.

Imagining God is next to you when you face a scary situation will help your mind to grasp it and your heart believe it.

2. All Things Work Together

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Romans 8:28

This is a very popular Scripture people quote when they need hope to cling to.

Start today by praying the condition to the promise of this Scripture, do you love God?

Do you know what is your calling and purpose for God?

If you don’t know pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you and minister to you.

Just remember you don’t have to become an evangelist and travel the world for God to use you.

Even if you live alone and don’t know anyone God can use you right where you are to pray for someone.

Ask Him to show you who to pray for.  Then you can start to pray and confess the promise to the Scripture.

3. Trust God

“Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation.’ “

Isaiah 12:2

God is the only one who can save us from eternal death.

Jesus paid the price for us to have eternal life.

No matter how big your problems or how severe the storm rage in front of you, just start to see all these things that so often distract us as temporary.

Start to pray and confess your trust in God where nothing is temporary, and everything has eternal value.

Then the strength and song will come automatically with the knowledge that He saved us!

4. God’s Commandment

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

Why? How? Where?

Why must we not be afraid?  For the Lord, our Almighty God is with us wherever we go.

How does God want us to act?  To be strong and courageous, not afraid, not dismayed.

Where?  The Lord is with us always everywhere – by grasping it we will learn to be always everywhere strong and courageous, not afraid, not dismayed.

5. Cast Your Burden On The Lord

“Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”

Psalm 55:22

By casting our burdens on the Lord, a tremendous amount of weight is lifted from our shoulders and therefore we are automatically calmer knowing God will sustain us and cause us not to be moved.

If you are struggling with anger issues or anxiety this is an excellent tool to implement into your life.

Ask and allow God to carry the weight, ask Him to sustain you, and help you to stay rooted in Him, not to be moved.

6. Not A Spirit Of Fear

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

When I was living in a very stressful atmosphere, I started confessing this Scripture repeatedly.

I could literally FEEL how the spiritual atmosphere started to get lighter and calmer.

Use the Word of God to bring a shift in the spiritual atmosphere and release His peace.

7. Set The Lord Before You

“I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”

Psalm 16:8

Once I was walking with a friend of mine on a walking trail, and just as I was about to put my foot down her child stopped me by saying: ‘Stop!  Snake!’

I’m sure he saved my life by warning me because it was a deadly snake and the place where we walk was quite a distance from the nearest hospital.

When we set the Lord before us, knowing He is next to us, He will protect us against all the dangers and equip us not to be moved.

8. God Is With You

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4

Psalm 23 is about the Shepherd looking after His sheep.

Our God, our Good Shepherd, and Protector are looking after us.

He is equipped with all the safety precautions and equipment to protect, comfort, and take care of us.

But for us to believe it and not to be afraid, we must start to pray, speak, and confess it.

Jesus already paid the price and conquered it on the cross, for us to live a life of victory over fear!
