Why Pray God’s Word gives you seven reasons to pray The Word Of God and use it effectively in your prayer room.
May you clearly hear the voice of the Holy Spirit ministering to you while reading this article.
Seven Reasons To Pray God’s Word.
1. He promises us that His Word will do what He intended it to do:
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:11
This is one promise I stand on when praying His Word back to Him.
Right after God confirmed my prayer ministry to me I started to write down Scriptures I want to pray for every area of my life and the lives of my loved ones.
We don’t need more proof to know that His Word is not empty than to look at creation, God created heaven and earth through words He spoke.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:3
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. Genesis 1:9
And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. Genesis 1:31 – Emphasis mine.
I only lift out these verses from Genesis 1 but want to encourage you to read the whole chapter.
Where I put the emphasis on let there be, and there was, let the, it was so and it was good is the phrases that are used repeatedly to show God said: Let there be (what He want to create) and there was (He created what He intended to by speaking His Word) and it was (very) good (God was pleased by what He created).
When we look at Isaiah 55:11 after understanding Genesis 1, we know why God said that His Word will not return to Him empty but do His will and accomplish His intentions.
2. Our faith will increase:
“So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17
“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9
When we start to read the Word of God, our eyes see the Scriptures.
When we pray and speak the Word of God, our ears will hear.
Then we will believe in our heart and our faith will increase.
Every time I struggled with something in my life I searched for Scriptures in that topic.
Then I write it down, start to speak it, pray it, naturally, my heart believed it and my faith increased.
Just look how wonderfully we were made, that God even created our hands (when we write) eyes, mouth-tongue, and heart to have more faith.
“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
Mark 11:23
3. We know that our faith and prayers will please God:
“But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6
If you don’t have faith and don’t believe God exists, your prayers will not be answered.
If you know that you doubt easily, start today by taking the time to spend time with God, read and study His Word, talk to Him and write down what you learn about Him.
For example: if you read Genesis 1 – write down God created heaven and earth.
Then start to use your notes to worship Him. For example God I worship You, You are my Creator, You created heaven and earth.
Soon you will start to believe that God is real and your faith will start to increase.
4. His Word is alive:
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
In my previous article: How to stay in the Word of God I explained how God’s word judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts.
If you didn’t read the article I encourage you to read it: How to stay in the Word of God
But in this context, I want to emphasize alive (living) and working (creating).
And I am again using the example of Genesis 1 to show you that God’s Word has creative power.
A dead plant will not grow and bring forth leaves or flowers, but a living plant will.
God’s Word is not dead but alive and we can use it very effectively in our prayer room.
5. His Word is the sword we use in spiritual warfare:
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6:10-13
God gave us His armor to fight the tactics of the devil.
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Ephesians 6:17
And He gave us His Word to use as a sword.
When you pray for your loved ones in your prayer room start writing out Scriptures and use God’s most powerful weapon and the precious gift He gave us.
“From now on people are my swords.”
Zechariah 9:13 (MSG)
We are God’s people, and He uses us as His Swords to fight the tactics of the devil.
If you ever wondered if there is something you can do for God, here is your answer.
Yes, you can pray.
Ask God to show you who He wants you to pray for and start right away.
I write the people’s names down for who I pray, then I put the paper in a filing sleeve, and when I pray I anoint the names with oil and ask God that His anointing will break the yoke.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
This is also a very powerful Scripture to write down and pray in your prayer room. You can pray this Scripture to:
- Destroy strongholds
- Destroy false arguments
- Pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God
- Take every thought captive to be obedient to Christ.
6. God’s Word is forever:
“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”
Isaiah 40:8
God’s Word will never wither and die or go out of season. It will stand forever, to accomplish for that which He sent it, it is living and alive for always and forever.
7. We will know God’s will:
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
1 John 5:14-15
Years ago when my daughter was still caught up in heroin addiction I was praying with other women in a prayer group.
I asked the Lord to set my daughter free from her addiction and the one woman prayed: “Yes Lord only if it is your will.”
That was the last time I ever prayed with that group.
Please let me explain why this was upsetting me: I believed with all my heart that God also sends His only son to die on the cross that my daughter can be set free from drugs and have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Her life while being a drug addict was in darkness, Jesus came to take that darkness away for her to walk in the Light.
Each time I prayed for her to be set free from satan’s territory I knew I was praying according to the will of God.
