Overcome Fear & Anxiety is an article that will explain to you How to break the hold of fear & anxiety over your life forever!
I intentionally left out my constant health battle from my colon aches and illnesses from my previous blog post: ‘When We Pray For Healing.’
In retrospect I now know it was an illness caused by stress, more clearly defined as self-inflicted, because I failed to control my stress levels.
For more than a decade I’ve been always ill with my stomach/colon and, needless to say, it had a great impact on my life.
Trying everything I thought could help, becoming a vegetarian, becoming a health-conscious freak eating food my family refused to give a second glance.
Most of the foods were something I had to make from scratch and despite being expensive took a lot of my precious time.
I studied natural medicines and made my own as well.
I exercise, trying to make the right choices to live a healthier life.
Nothing worked!!!
Nothing helped!!!
On the contrary, everything made me sicker.
Twice I ended up in hospital with obstruction and felt so sick that I was praying to rather die.
Then I went to a Homeopath and being a doctor of natural medicine, she told me to anoint myself, and rub the oil in circular motions on my belly.
Through the anointing and the Holy Spirit ministering to me, I started to trust God more in impossible situations and without realizing it started to live a life where I chose faith over fear.
Gradually the healing started and now almost a year later I’m completely healed from all my stomach aches and pains to such a degree that I can eat meat and other foods that in the past would make me extremely ill.
In my experience, it is impossible to overcome fear without God’s help and divine intervention.
I will try to break down in this article the different angles of fear.
What is fear?
“But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”
Matthew 8:26
According to this Scripture, fear is the opposite of faith in Jesus. The disciples were terrified of the storm, which is a natural reaction.
When we face terrifying situations the wise thing to do is to train ourselves to have a positive, faith-filled confession: “Lord, I am afraid because this situation spiraled out of control, but I trust in You to help me. I will not be afraid; I will trust you and know you will work miracles on my behalf.”
Fear is a sin that can send us to hell.
“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Revelation 21:7-8
There is no way to sugarcoat this, although some translations do leave the fearful part out.
Just reading this Scripture is terrifying!
To be fearful, unbelieving and liars are just as big a sin as being a murderer, whoremonger, sorcerer, and idolater.
And the things which people make off as little sins are equal in the eyes of God as that which we call unforgivable sins.
To not trust God and have a lack of faith is just as big a sin as any other sin mentioned in this Scripture.
God wants us to be loyal to Him, fear is unbelief, and when we don’t believe and fear, then we are not loyal to God.
Fear is not from God.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7
Over and over we read in the Bible God tells His people: fear not. In fact, there are 365 Fear Not verses in the Bible, one for every day of the year.
“The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
Isaiah 11:2
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.”
The only fear that is acceptable to the Lord is godly fear, which is the fear of the Lord.
I believe that the Holy Spirit will guide and minister to us and tell us when to have a godly fear, respect, and reverence for God and therefore we don’t have to worry that we will not fear God.
How can I overcome fear?
“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:8-10
Starting to confess Scripture over yourself will replace fear with faith.
If we declare with our mouth Jesus is Lord, we believe in our heart….then we will start to believe and have faith that Jesus Christ is Lord over every obstacle we may face.
“Beat your plowshares into swords
Joel 3:10
And your pruning hooks into spears;
Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’ ”
When you feel weak – say I am strong!
Use the Word of God to pray and speak victory over your life.
And use the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God to conquer fear.
Take your problems to the Lord.
“Cast your burden on the Lord,
Psalm 55:22
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
Matthew 6:31-32
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
We do not have to carry the weight of burdens that are beyond our control.
God did not create our bodies and systems to carry extra burdens.
Take your problems to the Lord, surrender them to Him and He will sort them out in ways that you could never pray or think.
When you caught yourself thinking of something that makes you worry just pray and ask God to handle it for you, then if you start worrying about it again say: “God, I trust you to resolve this for me.”
Allow Him to carry your burdens and give you peace.
Know the Lord will fight for you and protect you.
“You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.”
Deuteronomy 3:22
“He shall cover you with His feathers,
Psalm 91:4-6
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”
When we are under God’s divine protection, we can know without a doubt that nothing can harm or hurt us, and know without a doubt that we are never alone.
Even when family or friends turn their back on us, God will never turn His back on His children who are faithfully serving Him.
